How do I become a member at MVTV?

To join MVTV you must have a connection to Martha’s Vineyard (residents, seasonal visitors, students, or those working on-island). Membership options and durations are available at the front desk or online.

Do I need to be a member to submit a program?

No. Non-members can submit content, but you may ask an MVTV member or producer to sponsor your submission.

What is MVTV?

Martha’s Vineyard Community Television is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit governed by a local Board of Directors. Our mission is to enable community communication across the island through training, production resources, and public, educational, and government access channels 6, 8, and 9.

Who can submit to MVTV?

Anyone who is an MVTV member may submit directly; non-members may submit with a sponsor or by following submission instructions.

How can I get my event covered by MVTV?

Complete and submit the “Request Event Coverage” form on our website.

What editing software do you use at MVTV?

We primarily teach and support Adobe Premiere Pro in our editing suites and classes.

How can I reserve an edit bay?

Sign up after becoming an MVTV member; reservation links and instructions are available on our website or at the front desk.

How do I reserve equipment?

Email mvtv@mvtv.org or call 508-696-9760 to request a production kit or specific gear.

How do I reserve studio time?

Email mvtv@mvtv.org or call 508-696-9760 to request a 30-minute slot for the Main Studio, Podcast Studio, or Kitchen Studio. Non-members should call to schedule an orientation and access instruction.

How do I reserve the Podcast Studio?

Email mvtv@mvtv.org or call 508-696-9760 to book a 30-minute slot. Non-members must schedule an orientation before independent use.

How do I reserve the Kitchen Studio?

Email mvtv@mvtv.org or call 508-696-9760 to book a 30-minute slot. Non-members should arrange an orientation first.

Do I need to submit my programs in person?

No. You can email your program, drop off files with a signed program contract, or submit online via our submission portal.

Can I advertise on MVTV?

No. MVTV does not permit advertising or calls to action in programming.

How Long Can I Air My Program on MVTV?

Programs can remain on our schedule for as long as you wish; we do periodically refresh the schedule to keep content current.

What should the Length of my Program?

There is no strict length requirement. Submit the full program you intend to air and include a completed program contract.

What format should I submit my file in?

Submit files in NTSC 1920x1080 at 29.97 or 59.94 fps. Large-file transfer instructions and file-size limits are available from staff. We do request that your file size should be no more than 8GB.

How many shows can I submit to MVTV at a time?

You may submit as many programs as you like; each must have a completed program contract at submission.

What Kinds of Studio do you have?

MVTV offers a Main Studio, a Podcast Studio, and a Kitchen Studio for various production needs.

What kind of equipment do you have at MVTV?

We provide a range of equipment including Panasonic HC-X2 cameras, DJI Osmo Pocket 3 Creator Kit, Sony wireless lavalier mics, Manfrotto tripods, super-shotgun microphones, ACER laptops, XLR cables, reflectors, NEEWER and SmallRig lights, and other accessories.

Does MVTV do Live coverage? What events?

Yes. Regular live coverage includes all four days of the Agricultural Fair, MVRHS Graduation, and Christmas in Edgartown, among other community events.

Does MVTV Sell Hard Drives? Thumb drives, SD Cards?

Yes. We sell 1TB and 2TB external hard drives at the front desk, and 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB SanDisk SDXC cards. Payment by cash or check is accepted.
