● Art Shows will run for one month in June, July and August, and from four to six weeks in the off-season. Artists will arrange to hang and take down their work with an art committee member to coordinate the date and time of preceding and subsequent exhibits.
● Artwork will be hung on the existing adjustable hooks in the main lobby and in the Green Room, and an art committee member will assist where possible. No nails may be driven into the walls, nor may tags or labels be taped or hung on the walls. Any hardware on the back of an artwork shall be taped over or covered to avoid marking the wall paint. Artwork must be removed when exhibition is taken down, and cannot be stored at MVTV.
● Artists should number each piece and provide an identification list (number, title, size, medium and price), as well as a CV/bio, and instructions for contacting the artist. Any sales transaction must be directly between the artist and the buyer, with no participation by any MVTV personnel. If a piece is sold, we require the artist to leave the artwork up until the show is taken down, or to replace it with another piece. MVTV will not receive a fee for any sale of work.
● MVTV assumes no liability for damage or loss of artwork - the artist is responsible for insuring, or not, their work, and must sign a 'hold harmless' form before hanging their work. MVTV does have a security system for the building. MVTV is open from 9am to 5pm Monday through Friday excepting holidays, and the public is welcome to view the show while the facility is open.
● The art show committee is responsible for choosing the artwork, (reserving the right to reject a piece we hold unsuitable), assisting in organizing and hanging the show, and helping to coordinate the opening. The artist will be responsible for the opening, including sending out all invitations, plus any refreshments; there will be no wine or spirits served. To promote the opening, MVTV will place an ad in a local paper, notify our members via email, and will place an announcement on our website and in the MVTV Newsletter.
● Artists should fill out an MVTV Art Show Application to be submitted to the art committee. The form can be obtained at the MVTV reception desk, and when filled out either turned in at the desk or mailed to MVTV, P.O. Box 608, Vineyard Haven, MA 02568.
